Old Sofia Erli had a separate cerebral r, articulated with the tongue curled back, touching the palate. It contrasted with the regular r.
Today it survives in only a handful of words:
- ařò (egg)
- hařò (bow or sword)
- poř (intestine)
In everyday speech it is mostly merged with the regular r.
